Dickens Named Chairman at Harpeth Capital
Nashville Business Journal
Retired AT&T President Marty Dickens is taking over as chairman of the board of Harpeth Capital, a Nashville-based investment banking firm.
Dickens, who spent nine years as president of AT&T (formerly BellSouth), is an investor in Harpeth and served on the company’s advisory board for three years. Dickens will be involved in strategic planning.
“It’s an opportunity to contribute to its ongoing success and to be more a part of it on a hands-on or day-to-day role,” Dickens says.
Harpeth specializes in mergers and acquisitions, investment banking, health care consulting and capital raising.
The company had a record year in 2007 when it closed several notable transactions such as Nashville-based SunCrest Healthcare Inc.’s acquisition of Memphis-based HomeChoice Health Services Inc., and Nashville-based Statement Renderings Solutions LLC’s sale to a Canadian private equity firm.
Harpeth President Chuck Byrge says Dickens’ capabilities as a leader and businessman make him a valuable asset to the company.
“He will work closely with the board to enhance the firm’s ability to serve a wide variety of companies across a number of industries,” Byrge says.
